IVMed is a purchasing organization providing contracts and services to
home care infusion pharmacies providing enteral and parenteral
therapy throughtout the United States.
COMPONENTS OF THE IVMed PROGRAM:
- Injectable
Drugs
- Parenteral,
Enteral, and Irrigation Solutions and Sets
- Parenteral,
Enteral, PCA, and Infusion Pumps (rental or purchase)
- Non-Pharmaceutical Products (dressings, gloves,
syringes, etc.)
- Durable
Medical Equipment
This
program is available to all pharmacies, retail or
"closed door", providing enteral and parenteral
therapy directly to home care patients. A statement
certifying that the services and products provided
are for the direct use of the home care patient is
required ("own use statement"). The purpose of the
statement is to ensure drug manufacturers that their
products are not being resold to physicians,
wholesalers, etc. or sold to a non-home care
patient. The pharmacy should be utilizing an IV hood
to provide an admixture service.
"OWN-USE" FOR THE HOME CARE PROGRAM DEFINED:
The therapy (products and service) may be sold directly to a home care patient or his/her third party payer.
The therapy may be sold to a patient receiving administration of the therapy in a physician's office as long as the therapy is part of an admixture service. (The drugs must be prepared at the pharmacy for administration by staff at the physician's office).
The therapy may be sold to home health care agency if the product is part of an admixture service or if the patient (or third party payer) is directly billed for the products.
The therapy may be sold to nursing home and hospice patients.
Each company may require the pharmacy
provider to sign a specific criteria or "own-use"
statement as per their policy. Each company has the
right to decide final eligibility for access to
their contracts by the IVMed member. Some
manufacturers may require members to be "closed
door" in order to access pricing. |
